Our Story

The Barnabas Fellowship is a Christian organization dedicated to building trust, providing sustainable resources, and offering training to foster gospel growth in overlooked regions and among underserved communities.

Romans 10:14-15
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15. And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Why Go to Underserved People Groups

In an increasingly interconnected world, the mission field is no longer confined to distant lands; it is right at our doorstep. As diverse cultures and nations come to America, we are presented with a unique and incredible opportunity to share hope and faith with people from all corners of the globe.

Simultaneously, many Americans are answering the call to serve abroad, bringing vital support to communities worldwide. This two-way exchange highlights a crucial reality: the need for effective ministry is both local and global.

We are in a special position to bridge these worlds. We can reach people in contexts that may feel foreign, whether they are in our own neighborhoods or across an ocean. However, many who feel called to serve struggle to minister effectively in these new geographical and cultural settings.

Our goal is to equip and empower individuals to overcome these challenges, enabling them to build meaningful connections and make a lasting impact wherever they are called.

These men represent various regions in America and countries around the world. Following extensive preliminary discussions, we now invite your team to join us in establishing healthy, Bible-based churches in challenging areas alongside pastors, missionaries, students, professors, and laypeople across the nation.

The Mission Field Blind Spots

We are a generation shaped by the lack of Christ-centered preaching and the absence of exemplary pastoral leadership in the communities where we grew up. In these spiritually barren regions, the need for faithful teaching and shepherding is profound, yet the resources and support to meet this need are scarce.

By God’s grace, some of us have had the opportunity to be trained, equipped, and affirmed in our calling to ministry. However, the reality we face upon returning to serve these underserved and distressed areas is challenging. Many of us step into roles as "bi-vocational" pastors or missionaries, not by choice, but due to the minimal financial and logistical support available. Despite these struggles, our hearts remain committed to bringing hope, guidance, and the transformative message of the Gospel to the people who need it most.

Our mission is to stand in the gap, persevering in faith and service, to reach those in desperate need of Christ’s love and truth. Together, we seek to build a community of support, raise awareness, and foster sustainable solutions that enable pastors and missionaries to thrive in these difficult yet vital ministry fields. Join us as we work to rebuild, restore, and renew spiritually deprived regions for His Kingdom.

The Selection Battle for Pastors to serve in Distressed Communities

Many of us feel called to serve in communities that, unfortunately, cannot offer a livable wage. This calling often stems from a deep desire to make a difference in areas that are underserved or struggling, where resources are limited but the need for support and guidance is immense. A common question we face is, "Why not simply choose a church that can provide a sustainable salary?" While this question may seem straightforward, it overlooks the profound sense of purpose and commitment that drives us. For many, this work isn’t just a job—it’s a vocation, a way to answer a higher calling to serve others, even when financial compensation is minimal or uncertain. The value of the work we do in these communities goes far beyond monetary rewards; it’s about loving the flock where it’s needed most.
